Channel Frederator Awards

Artist extraordinaire Frank Rocco set the standard with last year’s Channel Frederator Awards dynamite poster (designed by Adams-Morioka) and we didn’t want to let anyone down this year.

When Next New Network’s Rachel Garcia had the masterstroke to theme our second awards show Metropolis, in honor of it’s New York location, I immediately hoped we could convince master artist and designer (and great friend of cartoons) Leslie Cabarga to relax his recent “no commissions” policy for us this one time. He’d done such an incredible job on ReFrederator, after all.

Seemingly within minutes after our first phone call Leslie shot over this first cool comp,

incorporating Jared Roessler’s photography of the Freddie statues with Ms. Metro herself, crossed with the famous Life Magazine cover. He lost the Life reference, cleaned it up a bit, and finalized image for the poster and program cover you see up top.

Soon Carrie will be sending over all the editorial for the program over to Leslie’s studio and we’ll start putting the finishing touches.
