I wanna go to the 2008 Channel Frederator Awards Site 2.0!!!

It’s Alive!!! Alive!!!
That’s right Fredheads. We’re rolling out the 2008 Channel Frederator Awards site fresh out the oven and onto the secret laboratory floor.

SPLAT!

It’s crawling around on it’s little stumps nicely for now, but soon our creature will be lumbering around terrorizing villagers in no time!

This is the site where you can keep tabs and be up to date on all our plans, nominees, categories, behind the scenes info right up until launch date!

Be one of the first to check out essays and art from our esteemed colleagues in Animation as they are delivered to us.

This is your chance to be the ultimate insider to the 2008 Channel Frederator Awards.

Yup. We’re proud parents.

Who will be the 2008 CFA Cartoonist of the Year?

March 15th, 2008

Channel Frederator 2007 Cartoonist of the Year

One of my favorite moments at last year’s Channel Frederator Awards was John Lasseter as Cartoonist of the Year. You helped us arrive at the decision when we asked you who had had the biggest impact on animation in 2006? Your suggestions ran the full range of indies to TV creators to feature directors, from folks like Bill Plympton to Craig McCraken to Lasseter himself.

So, it’s time again. There’s been a lot of action on all fronts of cartoons this year. “The Simpsons” finally made it to the big screen, Chowder and Barnyard launched new hits on televsion, and of course, we can’t forget Dan Meth.

But, like everything at Channel Frederator, it’s up to you. I’ve been proud of the filmmakers we’ve been able to feature, but even prouder of the role our viewers play in everything we do.

Please, tell us who’s the Cartoonist of the Year?

Fred

Super-Ultra-Mega Poster

Artist extraordinaire Frank Rocco set the standard with last year’s Channel Frederator Awards dynamite poster (designed by Adams-Morioka) and we didn’t want to let anyone down this year.

When Next New Network’s Rachel Garcia had the masterstroke to theme our second awards show Metropolis, in honor of it’s New York location, I immediately hoped we could convince master artist and designer (and great friend of cartoons) Leslie Cabarga to relax his recent “no commissions” policy for us this one time. He’d done such an incredible job on ReFrederator, after all.

March 11th, 2008

why.jpg

Hey Gang,
First of all, we wanted to thank all of you for all the great input, insights, and feedback you helped us out with when we sent out our Channel Frederator Awards Distress Call.
Second, we chose a very simple, yet poignant theme: Why Cartoons?
We have some pretty cool Essayists lined up! All sorts and types from animation industry professionals, students, fans of animation, and the usual bunch of Fredheads.
Keep those eyeballs locked right here as we begin floating out their essays as they make their way to us.
I’m excited. Are you?
