Bronk & Bongo

Sunshine and Lollipops

Here are a few of our first backgrounds for BRONK and BONGO designed by the mighty Jim Worthy. Jim has done an incredible job nailing down the look we were….um…looking for. Especially when my scant verbal direction consisted solely of “Good” and “Make it…” and for some reason “genitals” and “leave me alone!”. Somehow he managed to make sense of my cryptic ramblings and created some of the best looking environments I have ever seen. Okay, God did a pretty good job too, but Jim is a close second.

As you can see Jim more that lived up to his last name and according to Gary he did these overnight! If this was true it was amazing. So I asked Jim, and he said it was true. This was amazing!

Hope you enjoyed this small taste of what’s in STORE. Now it’s on to color!

i love the lollipop style trees! This is really coming together!
When can we expect to see some color? Will these backgrounds be hand painted?

Yes hand painted! See my response to Mike Milo. The Bg’s should be getting painted in the next couple of weeks! More on that soon.

real cool! cant wait to see the finished versions

Looking good Manny…(Sup Ed)

Great stuff. Keep up the good work

I like them! Very HB-esque! Are you intending on painting them traditionally with the whole sponge technique HB was famous for or are you going to do it digitally? By the way, I think you mentioned “genitals” over and over when I met you too! Odd!

Yes sir….the old fashioned painting technique is excatly what we are looking for. I love BG’s where you can really feel the artistry behind it, the individual brush strokes, the texture of the page the uneveness of a bleeding line made by a loaded brush. And yes, genitals!

I just don’t know where you get these ideas of things, like pine trees in shapes of a triangle and not its usual points at the ends. And clouds that look like some kind of flying bird, and not the bushy round clouds we are used to seeing. Its amazing and great to see how cartoons change with the times too. (I must be getting old!)

Love them! What a cool style!
