Bronk & Bongo

IS this piece from the actual production? I love it. Makes me want to take a nap….but is this not the same character that earlier drank much coffee? How can he sleep so easily now?

Yes this is the same character that did drink all of that coffee earlier but we secretly replaced his normal coffee with topsoil.

Wish I lived in NY. I love comics and haven’t been to a con in ages. Oh wait a second this is a posting for Bronk and Bongo….so uh…nice art….how lame is that? Actually I love the design for this BG, it’s sparse yet there’s enough info to get the point across. And BONGO looks supercute napping…where’s Bronk sleep? And is this a room in the train car we saw last week?

Hey John, BRONK never sleeps, he’s extremely paranoid ever since he found out the threatening phones calls he was getting were coming from inside the HOUSE! Look out BRONK! He’s in the closet!

Hi Mari, first I will most likely not be at the San Diego con this year as Fred now owns me and keeps me chained to an animation table in his wine cellar. As for how this show will look when it’s animated? I certainly hope it looks like this….some back grounds will be as sparse as this and others will have more detail but they will all have this organic look to it. And as for your last question I asked BONGO if he was a boy or a girl and he said “YES!”

Hey Steve, The convention is at the JAVITZ center but I don’t really attend them frequently. I haven’t been active in the comic industry in about 5 years, this was just a fluke…but who knows I’ve been asked to contribute to the next installment of COMBINATION PLATTER and my characters are being well recieved so who knows…maybe I’ll do the next con. If not I’ll see you at Frederator.

I wish I could go to the con I would love to meet you guys. Are you both in the comic business as well? You should tell us a little about yourselves…..And I can’t believe that Bongo would sleep in so late on a Saturday, shouldn’t he be out looking for work?

He might be treating himself to a few extra winks to celebrate the Knicks unexpected defeat of the Nets Friday night at the Garden.

Oh man, that comic-con sounds like so much fun. I wish I could be in NY to see it. In the pic above, Bongo looks very comfy in his bed…he almost makes ME want to sleep. I also like the contrast between Bongo’s red nose and all the different shades of blue. It makes his nose the first thing you see. As for any questions I have, I’d just like to know where you guys get your inspiration - do the ideas just come to you in the shower, on your way home from work, or do you guys brainstorm together and come up with several ideas to play around with?

I can’t believe you actually figured it out! When Alan and I shower together we come up with the greatest ideas. Yet none of them have to do with cartoons, mostly they are about solving world hunger and curing cancer. …….actually we just get together and toss out various scenarios and ideas and we build on it little by little, like building a snowball, you start slow and small and as it gets bigger you pick up speed. And hopefully when it’s all over you have a large funny snowball with no yellow bits.

Why is he wearing his pants in bed? Have you ever tried to do that? It is not comfortable…especially with a belt on. Is his belt his Dog tag…? If it is or isn’t, its still GOLDIN! This toon looks like a million dollars. Cant wait to see the two pooches do dog stuff!!!

Yes, we all know how uncomfortable it can be to sleep in ones clothes but when you’re out all night sniffing butts and pissing on fire hydrants sometimes you just don’t have the strength to take your pants off……… At least that’s what Alan keeps telling his wife.

I have really enjoyed all the art that has been posted on this particular blog. I have been following some of the other blogs but this one, this one has something different about it. Something in particular has really spoken to me. I’m not kidding either. This piece in particular is lovely. I love the all blue with the shocking red nose….it’s marvelous.

Beautiful. Love the colors! Does topsoil make you sleepy? Or does it only work for dogs? I’ll have to remember that.
