Sorry to be such a Robo-nag, but we want to make sure you all voted for the Channel Frederator Awards 2008.

If you have already, you are the good child. A +!!! (and a gold star.)

If you haven’t already, shame on you. You are the Black Sheep. BOO!!!

You can try to be the good child again by going to www.channelfrederator.com and clicking on the CFA 08 Awards Banner up at the top of the screen.

Also, not to sound too much like your mom, but clean up that room and make your bed.

We give Tough Love.

A spaceship captain wolf and his first mate bear buddy take a cosmic trip to another galaxy and find hot fairy b*tches to frolic and play drunken twister with.
Ahhh-WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO O!!!!!!

— Yuri the Only One for Me, submitted by N8
How many cool pop culture gaming and animae references can you find in this power pop punky music vid, Yuri the Only One for Me? I found A LOT!
Very fun song and video.

— Pico & Sepulveda, submitted by GoogleSlushoSteve
This music video really makes me miss the La Brea Tarpits back n LA. It also makes me miss my copy of the Forbidden Zone which currently resides on the shelf of an animator pal of mine from DreamWorks. Great video and style from SlushoSteve.

This Thursday on The Meth Minute 39, Dan Meth brings back those happy, singing watermelons back… severely depressed.

Stay Frosty.

Sita Sings the Blues Trailer Submitted by Nina Paley
Sita is a goddess separated from her beloved Lord and husband Rama. Nina is an animator whose husband moves to India, then dumps her by email. Three hilarious shadow puppets narrate both ancient tragedy and modern comedy in this beautifully animated interpretation of the Indian epic Ramayana. Meet Shaun Cashman

Fanboy and Chum Chum

April 28th, 2008

img_43398638.JPG

Up next on our hit parade of Fanboy and Chum Chum crew members is the show’s supervising producer, Mr Shaun Cashman. While world famous for directing the original “Fanboy” short as part of Random! Cartoons back in 1923, Shaun can also tell you about his work on The Simpsons, King of Hill, Billy & Mandy, and Grim & Evil, for the last of which he co-won an Annie Award in the Best Directing in a TV Production category. He’s truly Eric Robles’s right-hand man on this series, and you couldn’t find a better guy for Team Fanboy. Wish him luck.

Our fifth Category is Best Traditional Film.

You may know that Webster’s Dictionary defines “traditional” as “of or pertaining to tradition.”
What you may not know is the word “Webster” is a generic and copyright-free term that anyone may legally apply to his own dictionary.
For example, we could publish our own Channel Frederator-Webster’s Dictionary, if we were so inclined, and there’s nothing you, Uncle Sam, or those suckas at Merriam-Webster can do about it!

Art’s Desire Submitted by Sarah Wickliffe
Art imitates life, or is it vice-versa? An animated character explores a museum in search of a better world.

Fumi & the Bad Luck Foot Submitted by David Chai
Fumi’s left foot is always stepping into trouble.

Meth Minute Music Monday: “Pittsburgh Sons / I Was A Mighty Child”

Dan Meth’s Blog

I was kind of surprised by the number of people out there who requested the mp3 of this song. In the beginning of the Alan Kaufman cartoon from a few weeks ago we hear a bit of a “hard rockin’” song that Alan is listening to on his stereo.

This song is called “Pittsburgh Sons / I Was a Mighty Child” and was recorded by a band I was singing for called The Power Apes a few years ago. It’s a melding of two different songs I wrote with Larch and William Skullmaster and then later recorded by the Power Apes (John Crave, Curt Battles, Oki Kintama, and Christian Dahm.)

Here’s the mp3!

And here’s the cartoon in which it rocked:

Frank Olinsky paints Rusty Cloud.

Kathleen Loves Music

April 27th, 2008

Rusty Cloud
When I was a budding record producer my go-to guy for album covers was my great friend from childhood, Frank Olinsky, who went on to become one of the most respected and successful music designers of the last 30 years (starting, most famously, with his co-design of the MTV logo). He selflessly went to work on whatever I asked him for, including this unreleased album cover for the unreleased (really tasty) jazz album cut by R&B pianist/singer/songwriter Rusty Cloud (Bo Diddley, Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, The Blues Brothers). (Maybe I can find and post the tapes someday.)

Frank’s a great designer, but, in my eyes, an even more incredible illustrator and painter. This cover always reminded me of Eberhard Weber’s “The Colours of Chloë”, but with Frank’s trademark wry humor.
