Adventure Time with Finn and Jake

In the old days of animation - say, pre-1986 - it was an unwritten rule all action had to be set out-of-doors on a cloudless afternoon around 3:00 p.m. Now, however, it’s common to see all times of day represented within a single eleven-minute cartoon. This makes more work for the color stylists and background painters, of course. Here are three different pairs of backgrounds from “The Jiggler”, each set more or less the same design-wise (from Ghostshrimp and/or Santino Lascano). Adventure Time’s background painting is handled by Sue Mondt and Martin Ansolabehere under the art directorship of Nick Jennings.
